Customs Clearance

Customs clearance occurs through documents production and specific legislation that must be respected. To do so, the brokerage services import does goods relations verification and the stated facts by the importer. After this procedure the Import Declaration is made and recorded in the Integrated Foreign Trade System (Siscomex).

Customs clearance is divided into categories: consumption clearance and clearance for admission to special custom regime or applied in special areas. The first case is designed for goods brought for purpose use into Brazil, like raw materials, capital goods and intermediate products as well as when they are intended for own consumption and for resale. The consumption clearance aims to nationalize the imported merchandise.

The clearance for admission to special custom regime or applied in special areas is intended to bring goods from abroad witch will remain for a limited period and according to its purpose until it leaves the national territory like in transit goods vessel cases.

In all cases, at risk of fine punishment, all imports must be verified prior to shipment of good abroad, as to administrative control.
